Built in 1967 – the PLACER along with her sisters were some of the most odd design of tug to be built for the Thames. They were built for the Port of London Authority with a specially designed wheelhouse that could be lowered and raised at the push of a button to allow the tugs to get underneath the bridges within the dock system without raising the bridges.

She was sold in 1974 and renamed Freight Endeavour and sold again to Dean Tugs at Hull in 1990. In 2014 she was in poor state at hull.
